Ode to American Crafts

Ok, so a while back I won some Remarks on the American Crafts blog and this is what I received:
I mean, when you win something at AC, you really WIN! So in honor of AC, I wanted to create a special layout with some of the Remarks I received, I especially love the Margarita line because of the bright colors and fun motifs so I went with that line and a few products from some of their other lines to come up with an inspirational page of sorts.

Here it is:

A whole lot of hand-stitching later and this is what I've got. Totally worth it! Thanks American Crafts!

New Cards in the Shop

Hi there,
I listed some new cards in the shop about a week ago and I wanted to share them here...a few scrapbook layouts too, I'll put those at the end.

New Cards

Check these new cards out in the SHOP!
*Fabric Flower tutorial coming this week!

Now, Here are the SB layouts:

On the Road Again:

I made this layout with a bunch of scraps left on my desk, leftovers sometimes make the best layouts!
I used Studio Calico Kit Napa Valley and Some other paper scraps as well as some products by American Crafts (the black alpha) and October Afternoon.

My Eyes
I really LOVE how this layout came out. I used the Studio Calico kit Back 40, which was full of Sassafras goodness!

So that's it for now, I'll be back this week for some more crafty fun!

Some Scrapbook Layouts

Hi there, I know it's been a while but my life's been a little chaotic right now. Anyway, I thought I'd go ahead and post my latest layouts. Hopefully, they will inspire you a little. Here they are:

Second Grade Class Photo:

I've been scrapping lots of my school photos lately. I've put off doing these in the past because I guess I thought they were boring but I have to say, with October Afternoon papers and supplies, I've really been enjoying getting these scrapped. Who would have thought, right? Onward...

First Grade Class Photo:

I colored in all of the images on the paper and the labels to give my page some extra oomph!

Nala Preschool Class Photo:

I love how this layout turned out. It was made pretty much just with scraps and some accessories.

2nd Grade: Planet Necklaces
This one was also made with leftover scraps and bits from a Studio Calico kit (Napa Valley).

That's all for now, hopefully I'll be back soon with something useful, thinking about doing a fabric flower tutorial.

New Layout: School Days

Hi there,
Just reminiscing a little as I just scrapped a school photo from 3rd grade. I used some October Afternoon and Sassafras Lass. I really love how this page turned out. I chose papers from Sass Ellie's Tale. I thought the green and blues in the pic would go perfect with this line. Love it! Made this layout while watching the Voice. I'm really loving this show and all of the coaches. Anyway, here it is:

I just love when a layout comes together! Thanks for stopping by and hopefully this gave you a little inspiration!

New Layout: Sassafras Lass May Challenge

Hey there,
Just entered in my layout for Sassafras' May challenge via e-mail and wanted to share it with you. The May sketch can be found here and you have until May 31 if you want to participate. You could win $50 worth of Sassafras goodness if you win! It can't hurt to enter, right?

Splish, Splash:

Supplies used: (Sassafras: blooms, Sweetly Smitten mini stack, Ellie's Tale cardstock sticker border and Blue Linen alpha stickers) Non-Sass supplies: background paper by Basic Grey, Teal Bazzill cardstock and piece of orange paper (from a long time ago, don't remember who from).

The only requirement is that you use 90% Sassafras Lass product, which I'm pretty sure I did. I love how Sass products work together from different collections (and with other manufacturers) and are timeless. I love pulling out the older collections and finding something that goes perfectly with a current one. I ALWAYS love my projects made with Sass products! Hope this inspires you a little.

A New Layout and Product Reviews

Hey there,
I wanted to share a new layout (using mostly Sassafras supplies) and also some products I'm loving right now (budget haircolor and foundation).
First my new layout. Lately I've been working on bits and pieces of layouts here and there so it felt good to get an entire layout completed. I haven't really been in the mood for making more cards for my Etsy shop, seeing as though nothing has sold recently (a little bit of a bummer but oh well).

Here goes:
Amazing Place, Amazing Girls

This layout was made to honor some church friends from high school. They got me through some tough times and never failed in providing encouragement and some much needed laughs.I'm going to put my "hidden" journaling in the "here's the story" pocket. This layout uses mostly Sassafras Indie Girl supplies and some blooms, of course, love that line so much! I also traced some Maya Road chipboard frames in white for a little something extra. The mist in the background is Mister Huey in Lunch Tray from Studio Calico. Hope you like it!

And Now: Product Reviews

I haven't been able to afford the department store brands of makeup that I thrived on not to long ago. It's been really difficult to find something comparable in a drugstore brand. I firmly believe in investing in your makeup, if you can. So, I've been trying out various cheaper brands and have come across some gems.

Maybelline: Instant Age Rewind, Radiant-firming Foundation

I really love this stuff. This could be for everybody, not just aging skin, I'm 23 and love it! I think I said that already...My mom actually got this to try and it worked really well for her as well (and makeup never stays on her). It has great coverage but is light, blends well and the best part, it stays on ALL day! I haven't broken out with it so it gets an A plus in my book. I normally don't care for Maybelline products but I'll definitely buy this again, I think it's about $7. Don't get the one with the applicator, you get a lot less product for more money!

This one I bought because Kandee Johnson recommended it and I trust her completely (she's always so gorgeous!). I tried it and I loved it too! It was $9 something and have only used it for about a week so I don't really know how long the product is going to last yet but a little goes a long way and it too lasts all day, so exciting. I have some leftover acne marks so it's nice to not have to worry about reapplying makeup throughout the day.

Finally, I tried out a new haircolor:
L'Oreal Sublime Mousse in Pure light brown

Photo from L'Oreal.com

I really loved how easy this was to apply. A lot less drippy than other formulas and there's plenty of product so even long-haired girls (like me) can get ALL of their hair colored in one go with no mess to clean up off the floor (that's a first for me!). Best of all, the color came out exactly like it said it would, no weird brassy after"taste" left on my hair, just the light brown I was promised. YAY! At $8 something, it's way cheaper than going to a salon with great results. I would definitely reccommend. If you want to go more than just a few shades different than your natural color, please go to a professional. No matter how great a drugstore brand is, if you're looking for a miracle, go to someone who knows what they're doing so you don't have to go in for someone to "fix" what you've done : ). TIP: Blonde is always tricky at home. My family is full of hair-dressers!

Alright, that's it, hope some of these reccomendations help in uncertain times.

Sneak Peek: New cards coming in shop!

Hello there,
Just wanted to post some sneak peeks of some new cards coming to my shop, probably tomorrow! Any who, three of them are single cards and one is a set of 6 with a variety of sayings. I think these turned out great and the set of 6 will be versatile and useful for whoever buys them.

Here they are:

These have really fun, retro-y images on them and the sayings are done in the same manner, in a retro type-writer font and with a little bit of humor, always a good thing in my book! Look for these in my Etsy shop (Splendid Obsessions) soon!

Thanks for stopping by
